The APC InRow RP unit is designed to be part of a hot aisle/cold aisle containment strategy in a data center. It draws in hot exhaust air from the back of servers, cools it using its internal refrigerant-based cooling system, and then distributes the cooled air into the cold aisle for the servers to draw in. This close-coupled cooling approach is more efficient than traditional room-based cooling as it addresses heat loads at their source.
